Patience in a Breakneck World

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. -Psalm 27:14

I don't know about you, but one of my biggest struggles in my walk is waiting. The world tells us all that we need to get everything right away. Just take a look at how nowadays we have fast food, Video on Demand, delivery services, and High speed internet. A few days ago Facebook was down for about 2 minutes and instantly Twitter was flooded with tweets about how ridiculous it was that we would have to wait to get it working again.  We have become so accustomed to getting everything so fast, that when we are forced to be patient with something it becomes one of the hardest jobs ever, and in our minds nearly impossible. Another thing that we have a hard time being patient with is people. Many times people upset us or hurt us for no reason at all. People can bring us to our lowest point. Sometimes being patient with people can be even harder than being patient with things of the world.   In Colossians 3:12 one of the things Paul tells us to clothe ourselves with happens to be patience. There is something purifying about remaining strong in tough times and remaining faithful when ill winds blow. God gives us times of waiting to see if our search is really for Him or merely for something new or easy.

Challenge for this week: Be as patient as possible.
